Diablo creator and Skystone Games president David Brevik recently spoke about his experience on the publishing side. Skystone's catalog includes notable projects, from the PS1-styled Tyrant's Realm to the cozy Tiny Bookshop.
The company's plans include the Mistfall Hunter role-playing game with loot and the Arcane Eats culinary project. But Brevik admitted that there was one ARPG they almost published — Last Epoch.
In an interview, he was asked if he would like to see this "Diablo-like" in the Skystone catalog, Brevik replied:
Of course, yes. We were trying to convince them [to let us] become the publisher. In the end, they decided to publish the game themselves, but we made every effort and were close to it.
Eleventh Hour Games, the studio that developed Last Epoch, was created under the influence of Diablo. Brevik added:
It's a good team. They are really, really nice guys. I spent a lot of time with them. They came to my house, played board games and stuff like that.
