Some creative decisions did not make it to the final version of "Planet of Death". The director revealed what the film could have been like.
During an interview for BAFTA, the director of "Predator: Planet of Death", Dan Trachtenberg, said that in an early version of the script, the character Dek was considered an outcast of the clan not because of his short stature, but because of his blindness.
According to the director, the idea was inspired by the images of blind warriors from comics and movies, including "Daredevil", "The Book of Eli" and films about blind samurai. It was assumed that Dek would use echolocation with a special mask, and then lose it and be forced to act without it.
However, the director abandoned this idea, as it contradicted the task of showing the audience a new world. It was important for him to maintain the connection between the audience and the main character, and if Dek did not see most of what was happening, this would disrupt the visual perception.
Nevertheless, given Trachtenberg's desire to make each new film in the franchise unlike the previous one, it cannot be ruled out that he will one day return to this idea.
