AMD will soon reveal details of the next generation of scaling, rendering, and ray tracing technologies.
AMD CEO and Senior Vice President Jack Huynh has released a video hinting at the imminent launch of a new graphics technology from the company called Redstone.
FSR Redstone is based on AI-scaling from FSR 4, but will offer three key innovations: Neural Radiance Caching, Ray Regeneration, which is analogous to ray reconstruction in NVIDIA DLSS, and Frame Generation based on AI and machine learning.
AMD emphasizes that all Redstone components are optimized for the RDNA 4 architecture, which underlies the Radeon RX 9000 series. Support for previous generation video cards has not been officially confirmed.
Earlier, reports appeared online that Redstone was allegedly created on the basis of ROCm and is theoretically capable of running on NVIDIA and Intel GPUs. However, the official AMD teaser indicates support only for Radeon RX 9000 — without a hint of cross-vendor solutions.
The company promises to reveal more details on December 10, including a list of games and plans for the further development of FSR Redstone.
