Daniel Radcliffe revealed on Good Morning America that he contacted Dominic Maclaughlin, who will play the young Harry Potter in the upcoming HBO series.
According to the actor, he wrote to Maclaughlin because he knows some of the crew members. Radcliffe noted that he doesn't want to impose his presence on the young actors and only wished the actor to enjoy the work and have an even better time than he did.
«I know a few people working on the production. So I wrote Dominic a letter, to which I got a very lovely reply. I really don't want to be something like a ghost in these kids' lives. I just wanted to write to him: “I hope you have a great time — even better than I did. I had a wonderful experience, but I hope you have an even better one.”»
Radcliffe noted that the photos from the set with the young actors evoke mixed feelings in him — nostalgia and affection. «When I see them, I just want to hug everyone. I look at them and think: how crazy, because I was also filming at that age».
Filming of the "Harry Potter" series from HBO is currently taking place in the UK. The premiere of the first season, based on J. K. Rowling's novel "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", is scheduled for 2027. As part of the project, HBO intends to screen all the books in the series over a ten-year cycle.
