Kingdom Come Deliverance Creator Defends Andrzej Sapkowski and Mentions the Hussite Trilogy
Daniel Vávra, creative director of Warhorse Studios and author of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, defends Andrzej Sapkowski, who has been causing negative emotions among gamers for many years due to the story with the reward from CD Projekt for the rights to "The Witcher."
In a message on X, the developer emphasized that some players unfairly criticize the author of "The Witcher" for his attitude towards the screen adaptation, his manner of behavior, and public statements. He noted that for him, Sapkowski became an example of a sincere, witty, sarcastic Slav whose straightforwardness is misinterpreted.
Vávra noted that it is difficult to justify the dislike for the author who created the universe that became the basis for many people's favorite games. He compared Sapkowski's situation to J.K. Rowling, suggesting that many forget about the contribution of writers to the creation of universes to which players and viewers become attached. Fans reacted to the post and discussed the attitude towards the author of the original and its adaptations.
Vávra also mentioned Sapkowski's "Hussite Trilogy," calling it one of the best books he has ever read. The head emphasized that the series was one of the reasons for creating Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
