Remedy has postponed the major Rogue Protocol update for FBC: Firebreak — the release is now scheduled for January 2026. As the studio explained, the team "needs a little more time" to polish the content and improve the balance. At the same time, the previously announced support for cross-platform voice chat was released on time and is already available in the game.

Along with Rogue Protocol, the game will also feature a new Endless Shift mode — a survival format in closed arenas against waves of enemies that become stronger with each round. Players start with only basic equipment, and after each wave collect Corruption — energy that allows them to improve weapons, abilities, and modifiers, creating unique builds for each run.

The developers note that some improvements enhance weapons, others change abilities, and the combination of upgrades sometimes leads to "unexpected and powerful synergies."

Rogue Protocol will be the second major update to Firebreak after September's Breakpoint and another attempt by Remedy to bring attention back to the project. In the October report, the studio admitted that FBC: Firebreak did not reach internal targets, despite the growth in metrics after the updates.
