Spike Chunsoft has unveiled a new trailer for Steins;Gate Re:Boot, an updated version of the cult 2009 visual novel. Simultaneously, it was announced that the release has been postponed to 2026, although the game was originally slated for 2025. The company explained that the team needs more time to refine the project.

Steins;Gate Re:Boot is being created as a complete reimagining of the original, not a remaster. The character redesign was done by artist huke, the creator of the original designs for Kurisu Makise and Rintaro Okabe. He updated the heroes' clothing and accessories, making their look more modern but recognizable. Key plot scenes were redrawn under his direction, and several new episodes have been added to the script.

According to the team, Re:Boot will offer an improved narrative structure and several alternative endings. The gameplay will remain text-based but will feature a redesigned interface, smoother animations, and a modern visual presentation. The campaign length will be approximately 30–50 hours.

The original Steins;Gate, released in 2009, quickly became one of the most influential visual novels in the history of the genre. The game inspired a successful anime series, a feature film, and the spin-off Steins;Gate 0. Currently, MAGES. is also developing the project Steins;Gate 0 Elite.
