Some fans were outraged by the absence of Ghost of Yotei in the Game of the Year nominees, but even the lead actress disagrees with them.
After the announcement of The Game Awards 2025 nominees, a wave of discussions arose online. Among the six contenders for the title of "Game of the Year" were Clair Obscur, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and other high-profile projects, but there was no place for Ghost of Yotei on the list.
This fact upset some connoisseurs, who were confident that the sequel developed the ideas of the original and consolidated Sucker Punch's success. But even the actress who played the main role in the game believes that a completely different work deserves the title.
Erica Ishii, who played Atsu, admitted in an interview with GamesRadar on the red carpet at the Golden Joystick Awards that her personal favorite is Blue Prince.
"Blue Prince is the game of the year, no question. I'm sorry, other games, but I still — even after 300 days — find new secrets in it."
Ishii added that she considers Clair Obscur an "excellent game", but Blue Prince remains the main contender for her.
