Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 faced serious difficulties at the start. According to Japanese retail data, the game sold only 12,311 (+1,800 copies of the PS4 version) physical copies in its first week — the worst result in the franchise's history in Japan.
For comparison: even Call of Duty 3, released back in 2007, sold 14,177 copies.
The Japanese market has never been a major one for Call of Duty, but given that in Europe, Black Ops 7 sales have fallen by about 50% compared to previous installments in the series, a not very rosy picture is emerging for Microsoft and Activision.
Previously, Activision stated that it was pleased with how Black Ops 7 was received by players. The company remained silent about sales.
