A recent Windows 11 update, numbered KB5066835 (October 2025), has caused a massive drop in performance in games, especially Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Shadows.
Digital Foundry specialists conducted tests and confirmed that without a hotfix and with KB5066835 installed, the game on a configuration with Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5090 shows an FPS drop of 33–50% in key scenes.
A few days ago, NVIDIA released GeForce Hotfix Driver version 581.94 to fix the issues.
Journalists have reached out to Microsoft for comment, but have not yet received a response.
On November 25, the game received a crossover with "Attack on Titan" and update 1.1.6.
