Matt McKie has taken the position of Vice President of Marketing at 2K, which has fueled rumors of a new football game.
Previously, McKie was a Senior Marketing Manager for FIFA at EA, and then headed the EA Sports FIFA brand. After that, he collaborated with Nike, the International Olympic Committee, and Manchester United.
In November, he wrote on LinkedIn:
Excited to start the next chapter of my career as VP Marketing at 2K. We are assembling a best in class team to completely shake up our no compromise vision for the next major 2K sports franchise.
This does not directly confirm the development of a football game, but the recruitment of a former FIFA executive and the mention of "the next major sports franchise" raise questions. Perhaps 2K is preparing a competitor to EA FC that could become the "new FIFA."
