Fallout Series Will Take a Cue from Netflix's "The Witcher" and Avoid Choosing a "Canonical" Ending for New Vegas

The actors revealed how the show will depict the consequences of the original game's events, considering its variability.

With the premiere of the second season of the "Fallout" series just three weeks away, viewers will be taken on a journey to a familiar city – New Vegas. However, Fallout: New Vegas fans have long been wondering: which of the game's numerous endings will be considered canonical? According to the actors, none.

In an interview with The Spill, Aaron Moten (Maximus), Ella Purnell (Lucy), and Walton Goggins (The Ghoul) finally explained how the show will circumvent this problem. According to Moten, the series will not choose a single correct version of events.

Moten added that Lucy and The Ghoul will perceive the outcome of the conflict in New Vegas differently: they will try to figure out who considers themselves the "winner," but their views will diverge, as The Ghoul has his own memories of the city.

Thus, the second season will preserve the intrigue of all possible outcomes of Fallout: New Vegas and will not confirm any of them as official.

This approach resembles the decision of the authors of "The Witcher" on Netflix, where, to explain the replacement of Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth, the creators showed that the story can be distorted when retold – this is how the fourth season begins.

It has already been confirmed that some key characters from Fallout: New Vegas, including Mr. House and Caesar's Legion, will remain in the city by the beginning of the second season. However, what happened to them after the events of the game remains a mystery.

The premiere of the second season of "Fallout" will take place on December 17.
