Hit action platformer Sanabi gets free A Haunted Day DLC with a new heroine
The promised half-hour DLC has turned into a full-fledged two-hour campaign with a new heroine and combat mechanics.
South Korean studio Wonder Potion has released an add-on for the action platformer Sanabi called A Haunted Day. The DLC is available to all owners of the original game for free and is actually a stand-alone prequel, the events of which take place 13 years before the main plot.
In A Haunted Day, players take on the role of Major Song, an officer of the Uigeumbu No. 12 unit, who was ordered to advance to a suspicious area with a robot dump south of Hanyang. Unlike the hero of the base game, who used a hook, Song relies on her own fighting techniques: "aerial acrobatics", which replaced the grappling hook, and a shotgun. As she progresses, the heroine gains new abilities and weapons.
Initially, the DLC was conceived as a short bonus lasting 20–30 minutes — one of the promises of the developers during the crowdfunding campaign on the Tumblbug platform. However, the success of the original forced Wonder Potion to revise its plans. According to the studio, the team "wanted to do something more significant", and now completing A Haunted Day takes about two hours.
The add-on was received no less warmly than the original game. A Haunted Day has 96% positive reviews after over 1,300 reviews, while the original has 36.5 thousand reviews in the two years since its release, 97% of which are positive.
Meanwhile, Wonder Potion is working on a second free add-on dedicated to the main character's daughter, Marie. It is being created on a new version of the engine and will become a story bridge between Sanabi and Sanabi 2. The developers plan to release it simultaneously with the sequel. There are no specific release dates yet.
Sanabi is available on Steam and Nintendo Switch. Now in the Valve store, the game can be purchased with a 35% discount for 350 rubles — the promotion will last until December 10.
