The fight against AI-generated content is reaching a new level.
In early 2025, Valve required all developers on Steam to indicate in the game description whether generative AI was used at any stage of development. This gives players the opportunity to consciously refuse to purchase if they are not satisfied with the presence of AI. However, this information is located at the very bottom of the page and is easily lost among other text.
Dissatisfied with this design of game pages on Steam, craftsmen made the AI Warning for Steam plugin, available for Firefox and Google Chrome. As soon as you open a game page that has a notification about the use of generative AI, the extension immediately shows a large modal window with a warning and blurs the rest of the page until you close the notification.
As of July 2025, 20% of the games released during the year already used generative AI, and the trend only intensified in the second half of the year. Among the high-profile new releases that openly announced AI are Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Where Winds Meet, and Arc Raiders.
