Hideo Kojima made his debut as a voice actor. The creator of Metal Gear and Death Stranding voiced the character of Paul Moldebrandt — a police officer of the Zootopia Police Department — in the Japanese version of the animated film "Zootopia 2". According to Famitsu, the invitation to participate came directly from the film's director and Disney Animation's creative director, Jared Bush.
Kojima noted that he immediately agreed to participate, as he highly appreciates the original "Zootopia", which he once watched with his child.
«I only participated in a small scene, but even during the recording, I was struck by the level of detail. Thanks to the illustrations, the process went smoothly. I'm usually on the other side — at the director's console, so I learned a lot by trying myself in an acting role. I realized how seriously voice actors take even things like turning the pages of a script and extraneous noises».
The worldwide release of "Zootopia 2" started on November 26 and in its first weekend the film grossed $560 million, setting a record for the highest-grossing opening weekend among animated films and becoming the biggest film debut of 2025. The Japanese version will premiere on December 5, and the Russian release is expected on December 6.
