The Total War franchise returns to the Middle Ages.
Creative Assembly organized a special stream in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Total War franchise. The studio shared some plans and also announced a new project:
We have been waiting for a long time to say this: the Total War series is returning to the Middle Ages! Total War: MEDIEVAL III is already in the early stages of development.
The developers clarified that this is not just a "sequel" — it is a "rebirth of historical Total War."
In the blog, the game director of Total War: Medieval III outlined the vision for the project:
We want to make MEDIEVAL III the best Total War "sandbox" set in the Middle Ages, and turn it into the perfect "What if?" game where you can change the course of history. We strive to immerse you in the atmosphere of historical authenticity that you expect from Total War. As you play, the world around you will react to your actions in a way that makes everything feel believable. You can either follow the course of events described in history textbooks, or rewrite it.
