The full-length sequel to «Chainsaw Man» had a successful start in Russia.
On December 4, the official release of the anime «Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc» began in Russia — a full-length sequel to the first season, adapting chapters 38-52 of Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga. The plot takes viewers to the events after the finale of the first season and tells about Denji's meeting with the mysterious girl Reze, whose appearance turns the protagonist's world upside down.
According to the Unified Federal Automated Information System (EAEIS), the film topped the Russian box office. The box office on the premiere day amounted to 22.5 million rubles, and together with pre-sales, the box office for the first weekend is preliminarily estimated at approximately 42 million rubles. Together with the 13.5 million rubles that the film collected during previews in late November and pre-sales of tickets, total box office receipts are estimated at 57.5 million rubles.
On the Rotten Tomatoes aggregator, «Reze Arc» received 96% approval from critics and 98% from viewers based on more than 5,000 reviews. Critics note that MAPPA managed to combine emotional teenage drama with large-scale action and the signature cruelty of «Chainsaw Man».
