From December 2, 2025, Red Dead Redemption for PS5 is available in the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalog. Owners of the PS4 version of the game should be careful.
The problem is an old Sony licensing bug that has not been fixed since 2022. If you download the PS5 version from the PS Plus catalog, the system will overwrite the PS4 license. If you cancel your subscription, access to the game will be lost, even if the game was purchased previously.
To avoid this, go to the PlayStation Store on PS5 and download the free update from there. Owners of the physical version must insert the disc into the drive.
The PS5 version offers native 4K at 60 FPS, improved lighting and shadows. The PC version now supports HDR and a 4K interface. The update takes about 9.7 GB. Saves can be transferred from PS4.
