The project will be released in early access in January. Hypixel Studios also has plans for console versions.
Hypixel Studios has officially confirmed that Hytale will not be released on Steam during its early access launch on January 13, 2026.
Hypixel CEO Patrick Derby explained the decision by the need to focus on working with the community and improving the game, without "an overabundance of negative reviews from players who are not yet fully aware of the studio's plans". Steam is a great marketing tool, but Hypixel believes it may not be needed at all. The door for a future release on the Valve platform is not closed.
The developers emphasize: this is a "real early access" - the game will be raw, with bugs and unfinished content, but the team of 50 people (including 40 former employees) promises regular updates based on player feedback.
