The company, which occupied 26% of the entire market, is curtailing its Crucial consumer brand.
Micron Technology has announced the complete curtailment of its Crucial consumer brand and the termination of the production of budget RAM modules and solid-state drives (SSDs) under this brand.
According to Micron Executive Vice President Sumit Sadana, the reason for this decision was a sharp increase in demand for memory and storage from the artificial intelligence and data center segment.
Growth driven by artificial intelligence in the data center segment has led to explosive demand for memory and storage. Micron has made the difficult decision to exit the Crucial consumer business to improve supply and support for our larger strategic customers in fast-growing segments.
Crucial product shipments will continue until the end of February 2026. Micron promises to work with partners and customers to ensure warranty obligations are met after sales cease.
Micron expressed gratitude to ordinary citizens who have supported the company over the past 29 years.
After Micron leaves, only Samsung and SK Hynix will remain in the consumer market.
