A new EA job posting hints at a possible revival of Battlefield Mobile.
Electronic Arts is once again showing interest in the mobile shooter market. The company has posted a job opening for Vice President and Head of Mobile Shooters, who will report directly to Vince Zampella — head of Respawn Entertainment and the Battlefield franchise.
Judging by the description, it's about forming a new strategy aimed at "expanding existing franchises and launching innovative titles for mobile platforms" with an emphasis on the markets of Japan, China, and Southeast Asia.
Interestingly, back in August, EA was already looking for a Director of Player Engagement for Battlefield, which also mentioned mobile devices. At the time, this sparked talk of a revival of the mobile version, and the new job posting only reinforces these assumptions.
As a reminder, in 2023, EA shut down Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile, along with Industrial Toys, the studio that was developing the latter. At the time, the publisher explained the decision by problems with quality and audience retention. However, now, judging by the company's activity, mobile platforms are once again becoming part of its long-term strategy, and the return of Battlefield Mobile is only a matter of time.
