Microsoft shut down The Initiative, not allowing it to finish its debut project.
Two key employees of the closed studio The Initiative — Darrell Gallagher and Brian Horton — have announced the opening of a new studio under the wing of publisher 2K Games. Previously, they worked on the canceled reboot of Perfect Dark for Xbox.
In a post on his business social network page, former head of The Initiative Darrell Gallagher announced that he is joining 2K as Senior Vice President of a yet-to-be-named studio.
Brian Horton, former Creative Director of Perfect Dark at The Initiative (previously Creative Director of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Wolverine at Insomniac), has also joined the new studio as Head of Creative.
Details about other employees or the studio's project have not yet been disclosed. According to insiders, including Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, Take-Two even tried to save Perfect Dark, but negotiations fell through.
