Nintendo has released a new system update, version 21.1.0, simultaneously for the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The update has already begun automatically downloading to consoles connected to the internet.
The official firmware notes are concise: "general system stability improvements have been made to enhance the user experience." There are no major innovations, such as themes for the home menu, in the update. However, Nintendo separately confirmed one important change that was undocumented in the official notes: a bug has been fixed that caused videos to be played incorrectly in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Switch 2.
