In 2026, Xbox will celebrate its 25th anniversary, and Microsoft is preparing a major event. Jason Ronald, Xbox Architect and Vice President of Xbox Gaming Devices & Ecosystem, said in an interview with the BBC: "We are always thinking about the future of gaming and new ways for people to play."
When asked about expanding backward compatibility and adding classics to Game Pass, Ronald replied:
I can't announce anything today, but in 2026, Xbox celebrates its 25th anniversary, and we want to celebrate the great legacy and history we've built, as well as show where the Xbox ecosystem is headed.
He added:
I can't confirm or deny what you're asking, but stay tuned. We'll have a lot of exciting things to share next year.
