11 bit studios has revealed details about Frostpunk 1886. The game promises "much more than a remaster." Project Director Maciej Sulecki shared how the Frostland will become both darker and more alive.
As in the original, residents wander around the city, but now they demonstrate more detailed animation. Motion capture technology makes them expressive and motivates the player to care for them.
The lighting system has been improved, and the city's glow is now brighter against the backdrop of harsh weather. The textures of the buildings have been reworked and look more worn, which enhances the post-apocalyptic atmosphere.
Frostpunk 1886 will be released in 2027.
