PS5 Receives Firmware Update - Two Important Fixes from Sony
Version 26.01-12.60.00.06 weighs about 1.3 GB and is not limited to standard bug fixes. The company focused on improving the user interface and developing social functions, making system navigation faster and more intuitive.
The key change is the updated "Welcome Center." Now players can join friends' sessions directly through the "Friends' Activity" widget, without unnecessary menu transitions.
Another innovation is the read receipts for messages. They allow you to see if the recipient has read the sent message, bringing the system chat closer to the functionality of mobile messengers.
The function can be managed via: "Settings" → "Users and Accounts" → "Privacy" → "View and Customize Privacy Settings". In the "Communication and Multiplayer" section, you can enable or disable the display of read receipts.
The feature is being rolled out gradually, so it is not available to all users immediately. Sony has also improved the overall performance of the system and the readability of the interface on certain screens, which has positively affected the stability of the console under high load.
