Game designer John Romero (co-creator of Doom and Quake) announced that his new project, which Microsoft stopped funding in early 2025 as part of mass layoffs, has been officially saved and is continuing development. Romero made the announcement at the Salón del Videojuego de Madrid exhibition.

According to the creator, the studio still had to compromise and cut back on the scale of the game. The design has been completely reworked compared to what was done under the auspices of Microsoft, but the team of 110 people is not starting from scratch - the new version includes many elements from the previous one.

It's a shooter, but what you'll be doing in it will be as new to people as playing Elden Ring was.
