Devolver Digital continues to seek out unusual indie projects.
Devolver Digital has announced Virtue and a Sledgehammer, a narrative action-adventure game for PC developed by Deconstructeam and Selkie Harbour studios. The debut trailer immediately makes it clear that the publisher remains true to its love of strange and unusual projects.
The main character of Virtue and a Sledgehammer returns to his hometown, which has been reduced to ruins and painful memories. The place is inhabited by androids, digital ghosts of former neighbors whose consciousness has been digitized. There is no clear route here: the player paves his own way, demolishing buildings and obstacles with a sledgehammer and turning destruction into the main tool of exploration.
The authors emphasize that the game is built not so much on action as on emotional experience. The journey will be difficult not because of battles with robots that have captured the mountainous region, but because of the memories that emerge as familiar places are destroyed. Warm episodes from childhood here coexist with traumatic ones, and the process of destruction itself becomes a form of violent catharsis.
The exact release date has not yet been revealed, but the game is expected to be released in 2026. Currently, the project page is available on Steam.
