French studio Drama, the developer of the sensational shooter Unrecord, has received investment from Tencent to accelerate development and expand the team.
The game attracted attention in 2023 after a two-minute trailer that gained about 40 million views in 20 hours. The photorealistic graphics, showing a police officer in a shootout with criminals, sparked discussions: whether this is a real gameplay video and how correct its theme is.
Drama Studios announced the start of full-scale production:
We are creating a single-player first-person shooter with hyperrealism, elements of complete immersion and an exciting storyline. Expect updates next year.
The head of Drama Studios, Theo Hiribarne, emphasized that Tencent acts not just as a global partner, but as a team that is sincerely passionate about the project. The company supports developers at every stage, helping to unlock the game's potential.
Tencent Vice President Mark Maslovich noted that the company is impressed by the dynamics of Drama Studios' work and their progress. According to him, the investment will allow the studio to realize the project's capabilities and release the first game in the series.
