Sony has announced the complete shutdown of the PlayStation Store on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita consoles in Bulgaria. Users in this country will no longer be able to make purchases on these platforms starting in mid-January 2026. This follows a similar closure of the store in Croatia a few years ago.
The reason for the shutdown is Bulgaria's transition to the euro as its official currency from January 1, 2026. As with Croatia, Sony decided not to invest resources in updating outdated platforms to support the new currency.
Previously, Sony had already tried to completely close the stores for PS3 and Vita in other countries, but abandoned the plans after a wave of criticism from the community.
