According to reliable insider TheGhostOfHope, Sledgehammer Games (the authors of Advanced Warfare, WWII and Vanguard) is working on a new Call of Duty. This will be a completely new sub-series — not a continuation of Modern Warfare or Black Ops. It will feature new characters, a fresh storyline and a setting in the late 1990s — early 2000s.

Key gameplay changes:

  • The omnidirectional movement system from Black Ops 6 will be retained, but without tactical sprint
  • The return of the classic Pick 10 system for class creation is being discussed. There are no plans for a zombie mode — possibly so as not to overload Treyarch after two Black Ops in a row
  • Instead, the Get High mode will return (parkour challenge from Modern Warfare III)

Previously, Activision promised more global innovations and changes in the Call of Duty series.
