Todd Howard, a key figure at Bethesda and producer of the Fallout game series, has repeatedly rejected offers to star in the Amazon series based on Fallout.
Although the show's creators offered him cameos — small episodic roles, Howard consistently refused. According to him, he feels much better "behind the camera", directing the project, than in front of the lens as an actor.
Even in the first season, he had opportunities to appear on screen. Howard said that he could have played in a key scene of the Vault-Tec council meeting, where the fate of the world and experiments in the vaults were decided.
The producer decided that his presence would only distract viewers. Instead of immersing themselves in the dramatic plot, they would shout: "Look, it's Todd!", destroying the atmosphere of the scene.
Howard emphasized that he does not want to be the "Stan Lee of video games", preferring to think about the impression of the players first, and only then about himself.
