Funcom has unveiled details of the upcoming update for Dune: Awakening, set to be the most extensive free update since the game's release in June 2025. The update is slated for release in early 2026.

Particular attention is being paid to the Deep Desert, reverting it to its original design where PvP and PvE will have separate spaces.

In creating «Chapter 3,» we considered thousands of discussions, suggestions, and feedback from the Dune: Awakening community. One of the most frequent requests concerned a more tangible development and impact of player choices (including PvE) after level 6. The update will lay the foundation for these innovations and expand the final part of the game, adding more serious decisions, common goals, and new ways to further develop.

Key innovations:

  • Complete endgame rework: a new specialization system, expanded faction ranks, a rebuilt Landsraad system with repeatable missions and rewards for solo and group players.
  • 5–6 hours of new story content with cinematic cutscenes, fully voiced dialogues, phased bosses, and new dungeons
  • Melee improvements: a rework of the rapier to differentiate it from the dagger and short blade, as well as a new weapon — an incendiary grenade launcher and paired blades

Simultaneously, the paid DLC Raiders of the Broken Lands will be released, featuring cosmetic items themed around smugglers — illegal spice and weapon traders. It will include 74 building elements, 17 decorations, special stillsuits, light and heavy armor, weapon variants, emotes, and the ability to paint items for themed bases. The DLC is included in the season pass but can be purchased separately for $9.99.
