Microsoft released a number of notable games in 2025, but Xbox console sales continue to decline. In November, Xbox Series X|S sales in the US reached an all-time low for that month.
Analyst Mat Piscatella noted:
Xbox sales fell 70% year-over-year. For comparison, PS5 lost 40%, and Nintendo Switch only 10%.
This is the lowest Xbox sales figure in November in the history of the American market, and the decline has been observed for several years.
Key reasons include high prices: the average cost of Xbox in the US has increased by more than 30% over the year, and the top versions of Series X have risen in price by $100–130. In such conditions, this has become a serious barrier for buyers.
Another factor is the Xbox strategy. Microsoft is actively developing Game Pass and releasing its games on competing platforms, including PlayStation. Many players are wondering: why buy an Xbox if the company's games can be played on another console? Major premieres in Game Pass, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, failed to increase device sales.
The IGN portal notes that all manufacturers are experiencing difficulties, but Xbox is falling the most.
