Kafka Hibino's story will come to an end in the third season.
At Jump Festa ’26, it was announced that the anime "Kaiju No. 8," based on the manga of the same name by Naoi Matsumoto, will get a third season, as well as an additional episode called "Narumi's Days," dedicated to Narumi Genu.
No further details on production timelines and release date were announced. Production I.G only confirmed that the project is in active development.
The plot follows Kafka Hibino, who failed to fulfill his childhood dream of joining the Japanese Defense Forces, one day turns into a kaiju monster and gets a second chance to prove his right to protect humanity.
The first season of the anime was released in April 2024 and included 12 episodes. In July 2025, the project was continued. In the same year, Naoi Matsumoto completed the sixteenth volume of the manga, on which he had been working for five years. The third season will be the final one, adapting the remaining chapters.
