The "Sonic" cinematic universe from Paramount continues to expand. Viewers can expect not only new films, but also a new series.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Paramount Pictures has launched the development of a new live-action series based on Sonic the Hedgehog for the Paramount+ service. This will be the second television project within the cinematic universe after "Knuckles" starring Idris Elba.
Thus, Paramount's plans for the development of the franchise are becoming increasingly ambitious. The company previously announced a fourth full-length film — "Sonic the Hedgehog 4", which will be released in March 2027 — as well as another "secret" film in the universe, which is scheduled to premiere in December 2028.
Which character the upcoming series will be dedicated to is not revealed. Versions include a continuation of "Knuckles" and separate projects dedicated to Shadow or Amy Rose. Shadow debuted in the third film about the adventures of the blue hedgehog, and Amy Rose will appear in the fourth. The version about Amy is also hinted at by rumors that SEGA may declare 2027 the "year of Amy Rose". However, this information has not yet been confirmed, and there is no data on the release date of the new series either.
