Robux is the currency used on the Roblox platform.
On December 18, Roblox Corporation filed an application with Rospatent to register the trademark of the in-game currency Robux ("Robax") in the Russian Federation. This was reported by the TASS news agency.
The trademark is registered under four classes of the Nice Classification:
- No. 9 — computer programs and software
- No. 35 — online trading services
- No. 41 — entertainment services
- No. 42 — video game development, as well as wallets for digital and virtual currency.
In early December, access to the Roblox platform was restricted. Roskomnadzor explained its decision by the abundance of materials promoting extremism and justifying terrorism. Later, the regulator stated that it was ready to cooperate with the platform, which expressed its desire to return to the Russian market and comply with the laws of the Russian Federation.
