Some may lose all interest in Grand Theft Auto VI if the wait lasts too long.
Recently, former Rockstar Games animator Mike York spoke with Esports Insider. He shared his opinion on the potential postponement of Grand Theft Auto VI, as well as the current status of the project:
As far as I know Rockstar Games, and I have acquaintances working there, one of the reasons for the delay in the release of GTA VI is that the developers are trying to make the game as good as possible. They are polishing various details. I don’t think they have completely finished the game yet, given how much is at stake and how high the expectations are.
Mike York believes that there will be no more delays and GTA VI will be released in November next year:
I think the game will be released in November 2026, because this is a suitable time for the release of a game from Rockstar for several reasons [...] If you want to sell a large number of copies of a video game, then the ideal time for the release of GTA VI is a month before Christmas. Usually companies postpone such projects only once or twice when necessary, so, in my opinion, the game will be released around this time.
According to Mike, if GTA VI is postponed again, it could kill all the hype around the game:
If Rockstar Games postpones the release of GTA VI again, the hype around the game will almost completely disappear. Now no one is googling information about GTA VI. Everyone knows that there is no news, nothing to talk about… There comes a point when waiting too long starts to annoy people.
