The head of Bethesda Game Studios has fueled interest in Fallout 5, stating that they are working on the franchise the most.
In an interview, Todd Howard said:
First, about Fallout 76: we have never stopped working on Fallout. We have had a full team for a long time. The Fallout franchise is the one we are working on the most.
Most of the studio is currently busy with Elder Scrolls 6. But we are also doing other Fallout projects that have not yet been announced. I understand that fans are worried: "What's next? Give us news!" We are working, and the time will come to share information.
Bethesda previously stated that Fallout 5 would be the next project after Elder Scrolls VI. Development is already underway, and the release is possible no earlier than 2027. According to Howard, the announcement of Fallout 5 may take place a few months before the release, as was the case with Fallout 4.
Studio director Angela Browder noted that the experience of working on Fallout 76 and Starfield has made the team stronger:
We have become better at understanding multiplayer, listening to players, and developing new skills. All of this improves each subsequent project.
The second season of the Fallout series is currently underway, and the third has already been approved. According to Howard, the plot of Fallout 5 will take into account the events of the show.
