In 2026, purchasing new hardware will become more challenging due to a global DRAM shortage, which significantly impacts the electronics market. Price increases for RAM and SSDs have already occurred, and video cards are next in line.

According to an informant from the Board Channels forum, AMD and NVIDIA are preparing significant price increases for their GPUs starting in January 2026. Memory contracts at old prices expire in 2025, and new agreements will increase the cost of components and video card production.

For NVIDIA, the price increase will begin in February, while for AMD, it will start in January, after the end of the fourth quarter of 2025. According to the report, this is just the beginning, and the situation may worsen throughout the year. NVIDIA is also planning to release the RTX 50 Super, but the memory shortage casts doubt on its release.

Consoles may become 10–15% more expensive. Gamers planning to buy or upgrade are advised to do so as soon as possible, while budgets allow.
