South Korean publication The Elec reports that the Exynos 2600 is the first Samsung mobile chip to use the AMD RDNA 4 graphics architecture. This refers to the Exynos Xclipse 960 graphics, based on the MGFX 4 architecture.

According to the source, MGFX 4 is an adapted and simplified version of the RDNA architecture, designed specifically for Samsung mobile processors. For comparison, the previous generation Exynos 2500 used Xclipse 950 graphics based on MGFX 3, which is related to the RDNA 3 architecture.

On the official product page, Samsung claims that the Xclipse 960 has moved to a new architecture and provides up to a two-fold increase in computing performance compared to the previous generation. The company also claims up to a 50% increase in ray tracing performance. Additionally, the chip incorporates Exynos Neural Super Sampling (ENSS) technology, which is responsible for AI-powered image scaling and frame generation.

Notably, the RDNA 4 architecture, which underlies the Radeon RX 9000 series of video cards, has not previously been used in mobile GPUs or in the integrated graphics of Ryzen processors. At the same time, future APUs based on the Zen 6 architecture, according to leaks, are already targeting RDNA 5. Against this background, some media suggest that in the case of Exynos 2600, a modified version of RDNA 3 with separate elements of RDNA 4 may be used.
