Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, speaking at the Content London conference, stated that the "Harry Potter" series is moving in the right direction.
"I constantly find myself thinking that this is simply a delightful adaptation of the books. I think when people see the series, they will say: 'This is literally the books'."
HBO representatives have emphasized more than once that the upcoming series will be a more accurate adaptation of J.K. Rowling's books. However, some approved members of the cast, as well as rumors that women are being considered for the role of Voldemort, raise questions among some fans about how strictly the creators intend to adhere to the original images.
Francesca Gardiner ("His Dark Materials") is the showrunner of the project, and Mark Mylod ("Succession") is in charge of the direction. The roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione are played by newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton.
Filming takes place at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, where the original franchise films were also filmed. The series is scheduled to be released in 2027, and each season will adapt one of J.K. Rowling's seven books.
