The card roguelike Slay the Spire set a new record for concurrent online players on Steam almost seven years after its release. According to SteamDB, on December 27, the number of simultaneously playing users exceeded 57 thousand people. For comparison, the previous peak of 33 thousand was recorded in 2018, when the project was still in early access.
One of the key reasons for the surge in interest was the Steam Winter Sale 2025. As part of it, Slay the Spire is sold at the lowest price in its history — until January 5, the game can be purchased with a 90% discount for 99 rubles.
Slay the Spire was released in 2019 and has since become one of the key games that influenced the popularization of the card roguelike genre. Despite its age, the project continues to demonstrate stable interest from the audience — including against the backdrop of the expectation of Slay the Spire 2, which is scheduled for release in early access in March 2026.
