Meanwhile, fans are demanding a complete remake of the entire third season.
The production committee of the anime "One-Punch Man" has officially confirmed that the third season will continue with its second cour in 2027. The announcement came immediately after the finale of the first half of the season and was accompanied by the release of a teaser trailer and promo art.
The news was met without much enthusiasm. The current season's ratings have already cemented its reputation as one of the most unsuccessful anime in recent years.
The third season, created by J.C. Staff under the direction of Shinpei Nagai, has seen record low ratings. On IMDb, the season's average score is 3.6, while on Rotten Tomatoes, audience approval has dropped to 7%. The sixth episode, released on November 16, received a score of 1.5—the worst result in the history of the franchise and one of the lowest scores in the history of television releases.
Nagai had warned fans in advance not to expect the level of the first season, which was created by Madhouse studio. However, these statements only intensified the negative reaction. After a wave of criticism and harassment, the director withdrew from social networks, stating that he was tired of the distortion of his words and wanted to protect the team.
Fan dissatisfaction, meanwhile, is only increasing. Thousands of messages are circulating online demanding that the season be "remade from scratch" and that the series be handed over to another studio. The third season is being called a "voiced slideshow," and the announcement of the second cour was met with comments like: "they just extended the PowerPoint license." Users again pointed to the studio's laziness, noting that the same poster used to announce the third season is being used to announce the second cour, but this time the characters are facing each other.
