Sony is potentially facing huge problems.

It seems that Sony has suffered a massive leak that is causing huge damage to the security of PlayStation 5. Hackers claim to have obtained the console's ROM keys.

The keys are written directly into the APU (chip), meaning they cannot be removed by a firmware update. The only solution (if the leak is real) is to replace the codes on devices that have not yet been released - consoles already in circulation could potentially be hacked.

However, ROM keys do not guarantee an "instant hack" of PlayStation 5, as consoles have other security systems. Nevertheless, this information may help the hacking community to run pirated games in the future.

Access to the keys will allow tech enthusiasts to decrypt the PlayStation 5 bootloader and attempt to develop a solution for running arbitrary code.
