First PS5 Exclusive of 2026 Is a Major Flop. Code Violet Reviews Will Discourage Any Desire to Play
Judging by the first reviews, Code Violet will not be a hit in 2026. The game was actively promoted by PlayStation, regularly appeared on Sony's social networks, and promised an atmospheric horror experience, but the reviewers' reaction was extremely negative.
Immediately after release,weak graphics, performance issues, and a short story campaign - less than three hours - were noted. The first reviews on Opencritic confirmed the fears: the average rating of Code Violet at the time of publication is 40%. Critics call the game unfinished and prematurely released.
Positive aspects include the idea and atmosphere: individual scenes are inspired by classic horror films, and the art design and music are sometimes impressive. But the list of shortcomings is longer: outdated graphics, poor lighting, empty locations, primitive enemies, unstable performance with drops below 30 FPS, poor optimization, short campaign, and weak plot.
