Zoe Saldana Overtakes Scarlett Johansson in Ranking of Highest-Grossing Actors
James Cameron's new "Avatar: The Tulkun Rider" has reshuffled the list of highest-grossing actors.
Following the success of "Avatar: The Tulkun Rider", which grossed over $1.23 billion in its first four weekends, actress Zoe Saldana has topped the list of highest-grossing actors in global box office history.
According to The Numbers portal, films featuring her have collectively grossed $15.467 billion. This allowed her to surpass Scarlett Johansson, whose works have earned $15.401 billion.
The actress owes her position in the ranking to her involvement in several of Hollywood's most profitable franchises. Saldana's portfolio includes 33 films, ranging from "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" and "The Avengers" to the "Avatar" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogies. However, it was the box office success of the third "Avatar" installment that proved decisive: by the end of December, it had brought Saldana an additional hundreds of millions of dollars and continues to confidently collect revenue in theaters.
