The company also confirmed a joint animated project based on Age of Sigmar.
It has been over three years since the громкий announcement of the Warhammer 40,000 cinematic universe with Henry Cavill. Since then, the project has rarely received updates — except for a comment from the actor himself last summer, when he noted that the implementation of a project of this scale takes time and is associated with a large number of nuances.
In the latest report on financial results, Games Workshop CEO Kevin Rountree confirmed that the project is alive and continues to develop, but key control over it belongs to Amazon MGM Studios. According to him, cooperation with Cavill and Vertigo continues, but the release dates are not determined by Games Workshop.
«Our live-action project is still in development with our partners — Amazon MGM Studios, Henry Cavill, and Vertigo. Projects of this scale naturally take several years. While we would like to set a release date, as with any licensing deal, it is not in our power».
In parallel, Games Workshop is preparing another project for fans. Rountree announced that work on the animation for the Warhammer Age of Sigmar universe is almost complete. The project is being created for Prime Video and will be a continuation of cooperation with Amazon after the success of the animated anthology «Секретный уровень», which previously included an episode based on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
At the same time, it is not yet specified whether the animation for Age of Sigmar will be a standalone project or will also be part of the anthology.
