Marvel Animation is already working on a new story, although the project has not yet received official approval.

Head of Marvel Animation and Television Brad Winderbaum said on The Official Marvel Podcast that the team is already working on a new story in the "Marvel Zombies" universe, although the project has not yet received an official "green light."

"I definitely hope so. Here's what I'll say: right now, we're developing several projects behind the scenes. Obviously, none of them have been approved yet, but we're actively working on the next story in the 'Zombies' series. So fingers crossed. It's not official yet, but Brian is back on the team, and we're already starting to discuss ideas. What I've heard so far sounds just incredible."

From these words, it follows that the project does not yet have formal approval, but work is already underway - the authors are clearly confident in the potential of the idea, and showrunner of "Marvel Zombies" Brian Andrews has returned to the team. At the same time, the format of the sequel remains open: it is unknown whether it will be a second season, a new mini-series, or a stand-alone project in the same universe.

The first season of "Marvel Zombies" - a spin-off of the animated series "What If...?" - debuted in late September 2025 and showed a dark version of the Marvel universe, where many superheroes and villains turned into bloodthirsty zombies.

The project became the studio's first animated show with an "adults only" rating, and this largely attracted the attention of the audience. The reception was restrained: the series received 66% approval from critics and 68% from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, but this was enough for it to become one of the most watched animated projects on Disney+.
