Sonic Celebrates 35 Years: Sega Launches Massive Celebrations

Sega has unveiled a trailer announcing the start of the 35th-anniversary celebration of Sonic, the blue hedgehog and company mascot. The first game in the series was released on June 21, 1991.

The company promises a rich program: digital content dedicated to Sonic's evolution over the decades, meetings with fans, partnerships with brands and the release of limited-edition merchandise, as well as concerts.

Sega stated that they are "incredibly proud of 35 years of Sonic," emphasizing that this would not have happened without the support of fans. This will be especially appreciated by those who witnessed the events of 2006 and survived several frightening moments. That year saw the release of the raw and problematic Sonic the Hedgehog for Xbox 360 and PS3, which received low scores and severely damaged the series' reputation for a long time.

They also promised to look into the future of the franchise, but the next Sonic project has not yet been announced.
